denfoote - the fobus is comfy? I haven't seen a kydex ankle holster, but from trying to manipulate my paddle holster, they seem pretty rigid and uncomfortable for prolonged carry. What's it like to use? How do they compare to other materials?

Lesse here. Take two pieces of "sock tube", one inside the other, with a "pocket" designed in for a simple single-fold kydex insert to hold the gun. The kydex wouldn't be up against the skin.

What I mean by "single fold" is, imagine a rectangle of kydex about 4" wide by 9" long...lay the gun on it, fold the hot kydex over it, flatten it...point the barrel towards the fold. Do a single-sided mold so the flat side is against the ankle. Use .060 grade for reduced bulk. On it's own, this "holster" would be useless but jammed in tight to a stretchy cloth pocket open at the top, and it'd be fine.

Problem: the kydex would have to be removable, so you could wash the "cloth tube". You'd also have to have multiple "tube sizes" for different ankle thicknesses. Yes, you could use velcro, but now it's gotten bulkier. Thin is GOOD.

So is simple.

Do you mean like 100% kydex? 'Cause I have a Fobus rig for my Makarov that is the normal Kydex holster part, but the rest is nylon, padding, and velcro.
