What's in YUUURR Magazine?

Just wondering how folks load out the mags in their carry gun?
I load 2 Hollow Points and then a ball. I figure if the SHTF that two HP's COM and the ball to the head would be an effective combo?
How's everyone else load out their mags?

Got all HPs in mine.
All JHPs
or
All FMJ
Depends on Settings and Enviroments.
I don't do cocktails For CCW. Since reliabilty is priority, I don't take a chance Murphy will show up. Yes mine will shoot a mix, done so at range many times, plinking, targets etc...never a problem...Murphy would prefer a more serious situation I bet.
I don't do this in revolvers either, when CCW- in the event POA/POI differs. NOT a good time to be "adjusting".
Plinking, walking the woods, yeah I have loaded shot loads with another load in revolver. I have another CCW for serious stuff in the event 2 or 4 legged seriousness arrives on the scene tho'. Murphy is sneaky.

All JHPs
or
All FMJ
Depends on which gun I pick up. I keep a Kimber Ultra Carry stoked with the JHPs, same for the Para P14. Other guns are carrying FMJs.
Closest one gets the duty, I couldn't care less what a gun is loaded with when I need it. Just so long as it's loaded and works.
It's less important what you hit them with, than that you actually hit them.

P229 in 357sig carries a full compliment of Speer Gold Dots or Remington Golden Sabres. The PT111 runs 9mm FMJ's, when carried.
I don't mix and match ammo in one magazine. I'm too obsessive.

This assumes that you won't miss at all, something that does not seem to happen in self defense shootings very often.:)

All ball. Can't afford to shoot enough HPs to know they'd work perfectly. I don't think HPs are desperately needed in a .45 anyway, though.

About 1/3 of my magazines are loaded with all JHPs, and the other 2/3 are loaded with all FMJs.
I've thought about doing the 1 ball/1 HP combo for a while, but never really saw the point.

I carry 230-grain .45 ACP Ranger Talons on my person, but I keep a mag of hardball in the glovebox of the car for a "just in case" sort of situation.

Unlike others who might disagree. I think there is A "MAGIC BULLET" and
like it's perfromance in various tests.
My new RAMI is loaded with Sentry +P rounds. They are very fast and have a proven track record with a very large police agency and civilian shootings.

I do not presently carry any loaded magazines.:uhoh:
I am carrying a revolver and you would not believe how hard it is to cram a magazine, loaded or not, up the butt of a revolver!:what:
The only semi-auto I have that is suitable for carry is a S&W 439. When I carry it, I fill the magazines and chamber with Remington +P hollowpoints of the 115 grain variety.:)

I like to have some ball ammo in my carry gun in the off chance that my HPs are not penetrating properly. Here in the frozen upper midwest I also worry about some of the large coats and other outer garments people wear in the winter. I like the idea that my third shot will penetrate better. As for Murphy I have never knew that their could be an issue with using differant bullet types. I have been shooting HP, and FMJ out of one mag for years and have yet to have any issues because of it. I have polished my feed ramps, and keep my guns pretty clean so maybe you guys that are having problems should look into that.

1911s-All 230gr Gold Dots all the time, except for volume plinking.
GP-100--Winchester 180gr Partition Gold in the cylinder, 158gr Gold Dots on the Speed loader since they both impact at the same point at common self-defense distances. 38sp for plinking with a few SD rounds mixed in at the end for re-regulating the sights.

I chose other. Since my G-22 is also my duty gun, I keep it stoked with Speer Gold Dots all the time. Off duty I carry a BHP. When I go out running, I load it with ball since any encounters I'll likely have is of the furry kind. Any other time, it too is loaded with GDs.

All golden saber 165 gr in a sig229.
they feed flawessly under all conditions so why carry FMJ?
I did change to golden sabre over win silvertips as i noticed the silvertips did not penetrate well in all materials. Sabres tear up anything.
they are also the most accurate for my 229 as well, nother bonus!

Federal Mil Spec 230 grain FMJ in the H&K
Winchester White Box 115 grain in the Glock 26. However in this caliber I would probably carry 147 grain gold dots if I had the time and money to be 100% sure of their functioning. I feel very safe with FMJ though.
95 grain Win Clean in 380 auto. This will be my carry load in my new NAA Guardian assuming it proves reliable. I’m taking it to the range for it’s first time tomorrow. I’ll try to give a range report when I have time.
Humans are tough animals, penetration is good. Preferably thought both sides, stopping just underneath the skin on the other side.

With an H&K P7 PSP, I don't really care what type of ammo, so I pick hollowpoint. The PSP has nearly a straight line feed, Jams occur when bad (oversized or corrupted) ammo is fed, not the bullet.

I have all ball ammo in mine too...I keep ready what I plink with...never know when you need some emergency plinking ;)
BTW, Dark Tranquility, I had the winchester 95 grain winclean in my beretta 84...thought that it would be ok...as out plinking at a spray paint can and hit it on the seem knocking over the metal rustoleum can off the stump it was setting on and then denting the can...yes denting it. No hole, a freaking dent. I couldn't believe it. Needless to say, my .45 has become my dash gun until I find a nicer .380 round.
