I cleaned my bore using a boresnake and hoppe's, then I tried rinsing it off with water and this slimy white cheese like stuff appeared in the boresnake where the hoppe's was. I used soap and water to get it off and then rinsed and dried the snake but what was the cheesy stuff?

probably nothing more than oil-encapsulated water molecules. That's all 'Processed Cheese Food' is, anyway.

If you wanna clean your bore snake:
1. Buy another one of those "unmentionables" mesh bags for the washer...if you use the one your wife/GF already uses, be prepared for mayhem.
2. Throw it in the washer then let hang dry.
The "cheese" is the oil/water mixture/mess.

"I'll hold the board.... now when I nod my head, you hit it with the hammer."
(Moe nods his head, Curly whacks him in the head with the hammer.)

Just take the thing out back, clean it out good with brake clean. Then rinse it out with water and let it dry.

Could the Hoppe's be disintegrating the synthetic fabric the boresnake's made of? I haven't used Hoppe's in ages, but I seem to remember it could melt plastic, and all my boresnakes are made of nylon, I think.
