Favorite Carry Method?

OK, what's your favorite carry method?

For me its pocket carry of an S&W340PD. Either the front right pants pocket or right jacket pocket, depending on the weather and dress.

SmartCarry for me, in terms of most used. Probably strong-side appendix is the most comfy for me, tho.

OWB at 4:00 for me. I've tried IWB and find it very uncomfortable.

For those that carry OWB, do you regularly wear a long coat or a vest? or just a long shirt? Aren't you a little more concerned of a gust of wind lifting your shirt a little and showing off the barrel of your gun?

RIght now its Stong Side OWB but that might change soon

I don't frankly care who sees my gun. I carry in a way that is most comfortable for me -- not the general public. Normally, I wear a jacket because I always tend to get cold but if in warm weather I'd just wear a large over sized shirt.

Strong side, IWB @ 1:00 works for me.

OWB crossdraw at 11, OWB at 4, or OWB at 2.

I carry openly so I don't have to worry about stuff like that. ;-)

I'm skinny, so IWB has the gun poking in my thigh.

I wear a sweater vest, or if it's too warm I wear my shirt untucked.

Depends where I'm at and what I'm carrying at the time. Home turf is a BHP strong side OWB @ 9:00. In Los Anchorage it's a G-22 strong side IWB @ 8:30. When in Anchorage it's usually due to having done a prisoner transport in uniform. So I just throw my Cozy Partner in my bag before I go. Otherwise I would prefer to carry the BHP there too.

I've only recently started carrying IWB after years of OWB carry. I do find it more comfortable. Normally the weather here is cool enough to wear a light jacket and not be too uncomfortable. I prefer and usually wear a slightly oversized fleece pullover w/ an adjustable elastic waist cord that keeps things nicely discreet.

Strong side IWB. 2:00 for my 2 inch snubby, 4:00 for my 92FS. Just started carry reallly. I was pleasantly surprised that even with my "natural padding" IWB is comfortable and concealling. I sometimes use the 5.11 vest, but more and more it is IWB.

Since I'm not 18 yet, I only get to carry when I'm at the range(practice for when im legal), and i do that with an OWB, usually an Uncle Mike's with my CZ52. I've also found that the holster my grandpa used to carry his Colt Detective Special allows me to carry that gun very comfortably in the small of my back. Never actually carried it anywhere like that of course, just tried it out here in my room to see how it fit.

Pocket carry is really the only other way I've ever carried much.

Strong side IWB always wins these polls... I wonder if the results are skewed a bit because the "more sophisticated" type of CW carrier that frequents THR tends to carry a larger gun that is more appropriate for IWB carry.

I would bet that if you could truly survey everyone with a CWP, that other methods would score higher than in this poll.

Of course, that is just my speculation... :)

I just started carrying, and so far (especially for summer) I'm liking pocket carry best. When the weather gets cold again It'll be IWB at 4:00.

My favorite carry spot is crossdraw when I carry my S&W M28(6in bbl.) If I carry my Model 19 it rides right behind my right hip in an El Paso Saddelery Tortilla holster.

Honestly, I hadn't dreamed that one up when I created the poll, I just figured I needed an "other" category for daytimer, purse, SOB, vest and whatever carry methods.

What supprised me about this poll is not how popular strongside carry - both IWB & OWB is. But rather how popular pocket carry is.

Pocket carry is my technique after years of strongside and crossdraw, mainly for its convenience and lack of compromise in clothing required.

Favorite? My favorite is strong side OWB. I don't carry that way much due to concealment issues but it is my favorite because it is the most comfortable for me.
