In response to this (long) article at http://www.sfgate.com/columnists/sorensen/ I sent the following:

Mr. Sorensen,

Your "errors" in Powell's UN statement look more like errors on your part.

The comment on "Death Row Inmantes" assumes that the Iraqi system works as ours
does, holding the convicted while appeals are made. That is the liberal
paradigm. Try imagining that Hussein's "justice system" would more likely
collect and hold inmates while dates for testing are scheduled.

You make the assumption that we have a free hand to fly U2s over Iraqi territory.
You are apparently forgetting or ignoring the activity in the No Fly zones where
even high tech aircraft are at risk. Are you forgetting the Gary Powers
incident?

Your comments on the meaning of the photos of the training camp do not indicate
that you have given any thought to the political realities of the camp being on
the Iranian border. Nor have you given thought to possible useful information to
be gained by allowing it to exist and observing terrorist activity.

Your article is at best shallow journalism and shabby reporting.

I received the following from Sorensen:

"Guy:

Keep trusting your leaders and trying to find fault with people who question them. You'll get along just fine.

--harley"

My response:

"Mr. Sorensen,

I trust in accuracy on all sides. I do not trust in personal agendas on any side.

Guy B. Meredith"

This guy is either a bona fide knee jerk liberal journalist nose deep in his stuff or a shock jock shooting (forgive the expression) for a reaction.

As far as I'm concerned, the Powell speech last week was not needed. The evidence already existed. I am no better informed, of more resolute in my stance that the Iraq government is a threat to my way of life.

Any analysis of the speech is just that much more inconsequential. Makes the writers critique of Powell's credibility an absolute non factor. Next angle please...

Isn't that the short version of a typical liberal-conservative debate?

L: I hate this and he stinks.
C: But his facts are correct. Can you refute them?
L: Sure-go ahead and blindly follow them; you can't think for yourself if you disagree with me.

They (:uhoh: ) seem to want to blame Bush for everything -- even the actions of other conservatives --
I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing???
