Just got a good deal on a Mossy 500 12 ga for $75 this weekend. Took it apart to clean before shooting and it seems to be in really good shape.

Had a question about the bolt assembly though. There is a hole in the side of the bolt assembly that goes through the locking lug portion ( not sure of correct terminology) that looks like it is supposed to have a pin but doesn't. Should there be one or not? If needed I can maybe take a pic tonight to show what I am referring to. My manual doesn't show detail on the bolt assembly.

Thanks anyways, I was able to find a better exploded view on Gunparts.com that shows the bolt lock pin that I am missing and sent off for one earlier today.

Glad you got it. A $75 Mossie is a real bargain. I'd have to jump on that one myself.

Congrats on a great buy !!!

Mossberg used both solid pins and spring pins in this location at one time. (most have solid pins) Either way, when you install the new pin make sure the pin is tight to the bolt lock hole .

$75 for a 500 ! Sweet !
