Any experiences with Hotshot ammo?

Well, to feed my new Swede Mauser but not break the bank, I went ammo shopping today for some inexpensive 6.5x55, and was able to find a couple of boxes of 139gr SP Hotshot ammo. $8.75 for a box, so I figured hey... I'll give it a shot ;)

I just looked at the back of the box, though, and I see the dreaded words--
DISTRIBUTED BY: CENTURY INTERNATIONAL ARMS, INC.

Given Century's beautiful  track record of QC, I'm suddenly a bit apprehensive. Is there really any reason to be? :uhoh:

If it is that Bulgarian or -slavic stuff, it should be ok. I believe the I bought the same stuff for my Czech Mauser, and while a little lighter than Turk 8mm it still packs a whollup.

I have used the 7.62x54R in my Mosins.Accuracy is okay-stuff shoots cleanly.

I just tried some of for the first time in the Swedish Mauser I picked up last weekend. I have read that it is the same as the Igman ammo out of Bosnia. Only fired 20 rounds but it seemed OK. The casings looked fine after fireing and didn't notice it being too dirty.

Should be fine. I fire the 7.62x54R in my Mosins, and other than packing a bit of a punch, it shoots fine. I believe Igman makes the 6.5 Swede HotShot. Just don't ever get any HotShot that says 'Made in America' on it. It is American Cartridge Company!:barf:

Just make sure you stay away from any Hotshot ammo maeked "Made in USA" that is American Ammo (A-MERC) junk.

I've used Bosnian HotShot sammo in .303 Brit, and their 5.56X45 SS109 and I was impressed with the quality of both. I plan to buy a full case of each.

Well, I've only tried a few boxes, but it seemed to work fine for me. Thing is, there just aren't that many choices in commercial 6.5x55 Swede that are in that price range. BTW, Century just imports the stuff, they don't make it ;) . I've bought thousands of rounds from them and will probably buy thousands more.

Yeah, the stuff I got is Bosnian, so I guess my worries are unfounded.

Which costs less, Hotshot or this Igman company?
