Movie ? The Recruit

Pretty good movie with some pretty good gun handling skills; fingers off of the triggers, slides stay locked back, etc.
I do have one question for those who have seen it, I will try not to give away too much info tho'.
When the SWAT team does what they do, what in the world is the rifle the black cop is holding. There is a quick close up, but I haven't a clue.
Thanks

I enjoyed the movie, too. And, proof that great minds think alike, I, too, wondered about that rifle. The extra sure wasn't holding it very well. I get the impression it was an HK, but what model is up in the air. Definitely neat, though.
Great ending, btw.

I believe it was a HK G36 with a 5 or 10 round magazine.

Saw this movie on DVD last night. Not too bad, really. Bridget Moynahan is lovely, as always, and the movie isn't awful.
My favorite part, though, was the "bonus" features. In one, they have a former(?) CIA guy talking about various things while they show scenes from the movie and from CIA training footage. I had been told by an acquaintance with some knowledge of it that CIA firearms training sucks and I took it with a grain of salt but, if the footage was any indicator, he spoke the truth. I was a little embarassed for the people that they showed doing the weapons handling. I can only hope that they were showing green recruits and not instructors or fully-trained operators.
Overall, though, it's a solid movie and I didn't begrudge the time that it took to watch it like I do so many movies these days.

All I can say is that my father called it a "Great Comedy".
I thought it was a good movie... loved the "Hand in the Cookie Jar" scene.

I loved the added material with the Real CIA training farm.

Yeah, Skunk...it just came out a couple of days ago. It's worth watching.
Another complaint, though...
Al Pacino is always thought of as being a great actor but every character he plays is the same. Is this just me thinking this? It's not that I don't like him as an actor but it seems like he's always the same guy, just with a little different background or motivation.

You mean Pacino is a somewhat slimy but likeable guy with a hot temper, throwing one arm up, eyeballs going wide and cussing someone out?

So lemme get this straight. Some kid smart enough to write some really complex code is dumb enough to believe that what cycled his pistol perfectly were blanks? Too dumb to buy ammo? No handgun retention skills exhibited whatsoever.

Or dumb enough to believe that the fate of the nation would be allowed to ride on his cherry mission. Yeah, they give the keys to the space shuttle to guys who just soloed in a Cessna.
I was generally entertained, but the twists weren't on a par with something like "The Usual Suspects."
Finally, while Pacino wasn't bad, what happened to the terrific, subtle actor from the first two GFs, "Scarecrow"(great flick), etc.? LOUD Al needs to put down the Jolt cola and drink something soothing and herbal like Jim Beam.

I agree regardng Pacino's recent career.
One exception was "Insomnia" - he played a very subtle, understated role in that movie

I can nly hope that ALL government agents are as poorly trained! Gives me that much of an edge over the government!
