What .45 JHP bullet, from a major manufacturer most resembles a .45 FMJ bullet. Which ones have a similar ogive? I'm thinking JHPs that are most shaped like FMJ would feed more reliably. Thanks.

I am testing their 230gr JHP Personal Protection Ammo. if it can feed in my Ultra Carry II it's got a home. Their .40 185gr work great in my Glock23.

In the past 30 years I have yet to find ANY .45 pistol that would not feed Remington 185gr JHP stock #R45AP2.

I'll second that Winchester Rangers (RA45T) are pretty ballsy. ;-)

Ditto R-P bullets; both the conventional 185- and 230g JHP's are very 'forgiving', as is the 230g Golden Saber (more so, IMNSHO, than the 185g GS).

There's more to it than most ball-like shape.

Hornady XTP is a great feeder and doesn't have a ball-like shape.

Other parts of the equation: how the bullet hits the feedramp, how the magazine lets go, the "grabbiness" of whatever part of the bullet hits the ramp, the shape of the barrel throat, and so on.

Federal Expanding Full Metal Jacket. It's both ball, and a HP.

I think it's neither, really. It's a flat point, which is not ball, and it expands with mechanics very different from a hollowpoint.

It's interesting, but I wouldn't count on it to feed like ball.
