CCW revolver question

Gents,

Pardon my ignorance, but I am new to revolvers and still contemplating whether I want one. I am wondering how revolvers conceal compared to the semi-autos I am used to. I was thinking that while the overall length might be the same, the grip and barrel shape of revolvers might make then easier to hide. Is this the case? Lets say for the sake of discussion we are talking a 4" as opposed to a snub-nose.

True, the revolver's cylinder is what's thicker than an auto. It can print as a nondescript bulge. This does make a revolver easier to conceal.

Longer barrels become more evident when you bend over. You sorta have to check your own six in a mirror for that. 'Course if you carry a longer barrel in an IWB cross draw in may be difficult to bend over.

I've found the real key to concealability is a quality holster and proper sized clothes or cover garment.

I think it's about six of one, half a dozen of the other. Revolver cylinders tend to be somewhat thicker than semi-automatic slides, but unless you're planning to pack an N frame .44 magnum, it's probably not a significant difference.

Lancel nailed it.

My J frame S&W's with boot grips conceal better than my Glock 23 or 30. It's a toss up between my 26 and 27 if carring IWB. For pocket carry my Smith 642 wins hands down. Also Lance pretty much nailed it on the correct holster and clothing .
