Airport, Guns and Ammo

I recently flew Delta out of Phoenix with a rifle, shotgun, 5 handguns and 3 bandoleers of .30 in Garand clips.

Nothing bad happened.

The Delta people had me confirm that the guns were empty. I had to pay an excess weight charge (heh heh, no problem) and the TSA and Delta both agreed that GI issue clips and bandoleers were acceptable metal or fiber packaging. Everyone was courteous, thorough, and professional. All my bags were searched and nothing was stolen or defiled. They spent more time chemically testing my disposable camera than anything else.

I was mad - I had come to the airport two hours early, on top of the 2 hours they tell you to, fully expecting a cavity search and a trip to Club Fed. I was carrying the Delta and TSA policies off their webpages and had prepared my oration for when they were burning me alive:

"FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

It was by far the least unpleasant part of the whole air travel experience. Sorry, everything went great. They may be stupid rules, but they sure were carried out well. Hate to be the bearer of good news, but thought that my story should be told.

Good, because I'm probably flying Delta out of Phoenix with at least one gun myself in a bit. ;-)
