I have some camo tape I wanted to put on the barrel of my stainless Mini-14. Will this stuff melt under sustained fire? It is a cloth like tape that you pick up at most gunstores.
Thanks.

You can count on it.

It should be ok for a few shots fairly quickly as long as it gets to cool down after. However any more than 5-6 will probably leave you with a gooey mess.

Okay for hunting where you only fire a shot or two.
Forget it when going to the range!

I've gotten several barrels hot enough so that the handguards couldnt be touched bare skinned without even intending too.. I know there are metallic tapes you can use on chimney pipes that can take some heat, but I don't think you could find it in camo.
Don't they make high temp OD or other color spray on?
