Would anyone try and talk me out of it? I have huge mitts and this pistol appeals to me more than the slightly smaller SW99/P99 pistols in smaller calibers do.

Nine +1 .45ACP? It seems like a lot of bang for the buck at $519 OTD for such an ergonomic piece.

What is the trigger like on those pistols? I have a friend that was asking me if I knew anything about them and the only thing I could recall was that they had an unusual trigger pull. Is it difficult to master?

The trigger is why I took a pass.

I did not like it...the one I shot was fairly new and was difficult to group due to the trigger. My Walther P-99 (.40) had a much better trigger...much.

I'm a .45 fan...but this one was difficult for me to warm to.

The one I fired was pretty good for the type of action used on the standard Walther frame. The owner said that it was in need of a few hundred rounds and dryfires to "smooth out" and then it felt just fine, albeit long, and I agree there was nothing too objectionable about his. In the late 90s I briefly owned a P99 before I dumped it for not wanting to pay the freight for full cap mags. That one's trigger group I remember being no better or worse than the one on the SW99 I borrowed.

In slow fire I wasn't terribly impressed either then or now, but against the timer the 99 trigger philosophy actually shows off why their trigger is "tuned to adreneline" so to speak. You wind up just pulling right through the travel and BANG! Everytime. This time around, I actually liked the trigger, primarily because I have been firing a revolver a lot lately and letting the trigger reset through a longer travel arc doesn't bother me as much as it used to. The 99 is a combat style pistol, not a bullseyer, and I do not expect it to be fantastic, just utilitarian and useful.

When I left the striker cocked, I found the trigger on the SW99/45 more than acceptable for a combat pistol.

Of course if the XD had not gone grock, I'd probably still be waiting on SA to get their act together. As it stands, I don't need or want a .45Kurz. and the S&W more than fits the bill for a decent poly .45ACP at a reasonable price.

Looked at one in a local shop right after they were released and was impressed. The only thing that kept me form buying it was the grip. It seemed a little long for CCW use. The trigger was tolerable (to a glock user:neener: ) and I was impresse dwith the quality.
