"(Columbia) May 24, 2004 - Gov. Mark Sanford signed a law ending the limit on South Carolina gun purchases Monday night.
The bill removes a restriction that limited customers gun purchases.
The restriction would let people purchases more than one handgun in a 30 day period."
This is going to out a dent in the old wallet..... oh well, its about time they got rid of that law!

Oh, the horror!!! Blood will flow in the streets!!! Children will be dieing left and right!!!
Or no one will notice. I always laughed at that law. They have it in CA. I used to keep a calendar so that I would know when it was time to buy another. You had to time the 10-day waiting period just right... ;)

How the heck did that law ever get passed in the south?
Then again, we got a carry law, who'd have figured!

Awesome, I hadn't heard. Hopefully it will go into effect soon. Not sure how much more of the 30 days I have to go, but it can't be much. :)

Jack is correct. The law took effect upon the governor's signature. This is a major victory. NRA and its state affiliate GOSC worked for over four years on this legislation. We came close two years ago, but time ran out in the senate. We became the first state to completely repeal such a law. Virginia beat us by a bit on a partial repeal (CWP holders only).
I want to thank all of the NRA members, GOSC members, and gun owners in general who urged their senators to support this legislation. Also, a BIG thanks to Governor Sanford for signing it into law.

outfieldjack has it right; the law was worded to take effect immediately upon signing by the governor.
Bye bye one handgun every 30 days! (And drat, me with no money. So what else is new?) :D :cuss:

Why is it that SC people come out of the woodwork for this thread, but none of you guys wanted to come to the group shoot last Sunday? I'm making a list of all of your names for next time :neener:

I don't think any more than half of them are SC people... but where was a group shoot last Sunday? I was at a gun show buying some out-of-spec grips myself.

Make a list! I'd have been there, except that I was in pain.
I think we should all send Gov. Sanford a big thankyou card!

M.I., what part of the upstate? I'm in Clemson, and usually go shooting up on the Sumter range past walhalla, if you know where that is.

Of course now mass, DC, and NYC will get their panties in a bunch because of all the guns from SC "flooding the streets" of our cities that have embraced "reasonable gun violence prevention". Then Chucky schumer and the rest of the F-Troop will stand up before congress pointing to SC as the reason we need a nationwide 30 day rule.

ttbadboy, I'm over in Spartanburg. I don't think I ever been over to Walhalla. I usually go shoot over in Gaffney as the range is open to the public, and the RO's keep everything pretty safe.
As to DC and the rest of 'em blaming us, it's been done before.
