" THE PISTOLSMITH TO GOD "
Nobody else in the business is even breathing his dust.
As for " turn-around time ", who gives a damn? You are looking at it entirely wrong. YOU WILL BE DEALING WITH THE BEST OF THE BEST AND HE'LL DO IT IN HIS OWN GOOD TIME AND NO OTHER!
If this is a problem to you, please go elsewhere as it irritates Hamilton, and we don't want artistic craftsman who work on our guns to be irritated.
If you decide to have Bowen work over one of yore sixguns, tell him exactly what you want done, give him the gun, then go away and forget about it...I said forget about it...I am dead serious here, forget about it, don't call him, don't bug him, LEAVE HIM THE HELL ALONE!!!
Pretty soon you'll have one of the best sixguns going and you 'll be a happy sixgunner.
And remember this: THE BEST QUALITY TAKE TIME, SKILL AND BRAINS. The average stuff is turned out by the boxcar full every day.

Man, I'd love to have Hamilton Bowen do some work on my new Redhawk.
I just can't afford it right now. :(
(And an endorsement from Terry Murbach on a 'smith for a sixgun is about as good as anyone could ever want! I'm always grateful to see him on the 'net with us.)

i've only been able to handle two examples of his work...no shooting, just fondling and drooling...and it was outstanding. a true example of art and craftsmanship.
i also believe that when you want somthing very special, somthing you have to order and not just pickup out of a dealer's display, when you commit to spending whatever it takes (beyond it's actual value)...hurrying the craftsman is a grave mistake. it would be like trying to fit eye surgery into your lunch hour.
as terry said...be very specific about what you want, send in you gun and forget about it until he says it is done.
terry- just a quick question. is it bowen who does the conversion or the single-six in .32 H&R mag to a five short .357mag?

Hamilton Bowen answers his own telephone. That was enough for me to send him my .44 Ruger NMBH w/5 1/2" barrel last year to replace the grip frame, trigger, hammer and spring with Bisley parts, and do a trigger job. I had already installed one of his custom rear sights, and a Belt Mountain base pin. Turn around was around six weeks. New frame comes in the white, so entire gun was reblued. Fit and finish of new frame is flawless. Trigger is spectacular. As I told him later, the workmanship is absolutely perfect. With the Bisley frame, and 5 1/2" barrel, this is some handgun I will never be without. He is the best for revolvers. Black Dog

I have a .41 redhawk that I sent to Hamilton Bowen for repair. It wouldn't relibably fire every round in DA (about 1-2 each cylinder did not go off). When I got it back and test fired it, 2 of 6 rounds went off.
I ended up calling Hamilton Bowen and explaining the problem. He paid for return shipping and had to make some other modifications. It now works fine.
The problems was mostly with communications. On the order form I listed the work I wanted done with a copy of the email where we discussed the problem. When I spoke with Bowen afterwards, he said that he only works from the work order and didn't look at the copy of the email I sent. PUT IT ON THE WORK ORDER!
