There is a local story on the TV and radio news about a guy who yesterday allegedly pulled up in a pickup truck, pointed a gun a little girl and waved it to indicte that she should come to him. She ran off, her older brothers showed up, truck driver with gun drives off. Story can be found here (http://wkrc.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=87617A93-514B-4A4A-BC51-418DA5AD60D8) . They are calling it a case of child "enticement."

My point is this: Is it correct to call this "child enticement" as the local news is doing? Seems more like an attempted armed abduction. Was the guy trying to "tempt" her with the gun? On the lighter side, do we need to warn our kids not to take guns from strangers? If it had been a THR member instead of the little girl who was being "enticed," would we have said, "I don't care for Tupperware guns. Got a 1911?" Seems like an MP5 would be more "enticing."

Sounds more like he threatened her with it ... now if he was to wave a gun at her and say "come here little girl and I'll give you this gun" that would be "enticement" (and that might work on me :p ).

But then again, according to the antis guns have a mystical power over people so maybe everyone who's ever been threatened with a gun was actually "enticed"

It sounds more like "You'd better get in the truck if you know what's good for ya" threat to her life..

"enticement" is showing them gun porn, and then saying "I have that exact gun in the truck, do you want to see it?"

i think that enticement is an understatement.

And by the way this event happened in my backyard. i was absolutly horrified when i watched the news lastnight.

wish i had been home. my little black mustang would have been in persuit of the big black F150

Damn - just north of me. Scary stuff. I'll watch 19 at 10 to see the story. (Tricia Macke is nice to watch, too.)

Last July, my good friend's little 7 year-old girl was molested at a local playground while the rest of the family played softball 50 feet away. I was invited to go along that day, and I wish I did because the outcome might have been different...

He was caught some time later in Lexington, exposing himself to kids in a library. I usually don't have praise for cops, but the detectives did a FINE job of gathering evidence against the scum bag.

He was just sentenced 2 days ago to 70-something years, and he has to serve at least 90% of the time. He'll be 80-something when he gets out. The little girl is doing fine, and she's my daughter's second-best friend (after her older sister).

We live in a nice, rural area. People think nothing like this ever would happen here, but it did. Watch your kids!
