What is with the apparent gun grabber obsesssion with keeping "AKs and Uzis off the streets"?

It hardly seems like they care about M16s, Tec-9s, etc... Just AKs and Uzis.

Are they the most recognizable to a non-gunner?

BTW, this is a serious question. I am curious as to if there is a reason those two are mentioned almost solely.

It's a stereotype. If you say "AK's and Uzi's" most everyone, even Joe and Jane Soccer know what you're talking about. If you said "FN FAL's and MP-5's" an awful lot of people will say "Whut'chu talkin' about?"

I think most anti-gunners wouldn't recognize either an AK or an Uzi if you stuck them in a gun lineup. They are just advertising buzz words for the business of tyranny.

Leftist gun grabbers are lemmings. They hear a buzz on CBSNBCABCCNNMSNBC about the evils of "assault weapons", hear they are called "AK-47's" and "Uzis" and they're off. The more it is repeated the more evil and urgent it becomes. It's mindless.

Remember:
It all depends on what your definition of "is", is.

An AK "is" any gun hemd with two hands.

An uzi "is" any gun held with one hand.

Once you understand their language, you get to the whole point:

"Give us all your weapons."

I do beleive that the folks on this list have a time-honored reply.

That's for sure. I've had folks call my Ruger 10/22 and my SKS an AK, even with the AK laying beside them. Virtually no one can ID my Uzi, but they call my M11/9 one. Thanks to tons of cop TV shows and movies, more and more folks can name the MP5.

Of course they can't identify an Uzi. They can't even spell it right.

Well, just think... at least when the AWB dies in September, the Dunham's Sports down the road from can finally sell the Romanian AK they have in their rack.

Because we all know that we haven't been able to buy AK's or UZI's since '94, even at the evil gun shows!

They're also considered by many to be "ugly-looking" guns in addition to being easily recognized, which is a bonus for the MMM folks.

If your gun is an oozie, you probably over lubricated it.:D And the phrase "boozie with oozies", really puts a gross picture in my head, and it has nothing to do with a gun:barf:

Why is that crap tolerated?

If I walked around DC with a sign that said "Blacks & crack don't mix" you can be damn sure the liberal media would be all over it. I own guns, if I had the chance to own an Uzi I would jump at it. But I don't drink, not even at restaurants. Implying that anyone that owns guns is a boozer is just as stupid and discriminatory as believing every black person is a junkie. :banghead: :cuss: :fire:

Hey, I like a nice nip of Oozie now and then. Doesn't make me a boozie. Oh, wait, that's Ouzo. Never mind.

What is with the apparent gun grabber obsesssion with keeping "AKs and Uzis off the streets"? Something about 'taking a lie, boiling it down to its most simple form, and repeating it until it takes on a life of its own' springs to mind.
