This is a sign used in the US system of hobo signs meaning the man in this house is armed with a gun.

I drew that on the pocket of a couple of my t-shirts. Almost as good of a conversation starter as ML. :D

It looks like a stick man ducking down behind a small pyramid, who's yelling out...

"Wait!.. Don't look, I'm naked back here!"- Mr. Stick :D

I've been trying to figure a way to engrave that sign on the side of the AR15 that I made with an unmarked 80% lower receiver. I'll probably use a tool bit mounted in the mill using the X-Y table movement to cut the lines, Cool symbol.

What's an avatar? I assume something beside a religious figure...

An avatar is a symbol used to represent something - i.e. a family crest might be an "avatar" of that family, etc. In the case of smokers, of course, when they invite you to have a cigarette, they'll use the term differently, as in "ava-low-tar", or "ava-full-tar", or "ava-dangerously-high-tar"... :D

Look under the "user cp" and then under "edit option" and then all the way at the bottom under "avatars."

Avatars are small graphical images that you may choose in your profile. They are displayed below your username on all posts that you make. You can select the image that best describes yourself from your profile options.

This board has the option to let us have little symbols, figures, cartoons or whatever attached to our names. But those who are running it apparently don't have that option turned on (not complaining, btw).

Yes, and apparently there are American hobo symbols, British hobo symbols, French hobo symbols and Swedish hobo symbols.

Here are some links to the American hobo symbols: http://www.slackaction.com/signroll.htm

As for the British, French and Swedish systems, I can't find any single listing of them, and the Symbols.com site is pretty hard to search (no actual word search), but many of the hobo signs are under the "H" word index beginning with "here are..." and "here they..." etc. http://www.symbols.com/index/wordindex-h.html

Some examples...

http://www.symbols.com/pics/big/36/3608.gif A sign used in the Swedish and British systems of hobo signs. In Sweden it means bad-tempered people live here, and in Britain it indicates that here people are dangerous and/or there are dangerous dogs.

http://www.symbols.com/pics/big/40/4051.gif This variation of the previous entry sign is used in the French hobo or gypsy system and means here the locks are easily picked open.

http://www.symbols.com/pics/big/16/1673.gif This sign from the French hobo or gypsy system means here they have a vicious dog.

http://www.symbols.com/pics/big/26/2630.gif This sign means here you can get food and money in both the Swedish and British hobo systems.
