Anyone have a good shot load they have been using for a while. The snakes are thick this year! I'm gonna start carrying my S&W 36 with me and I'm too cheap to buy CCI .38 shot loads.

Loads are listed on the back of the Speer component shot capsule boxes, as well as in the Speer manual. I have had good luck with .45 ACP factory loads (CCI and Remington), .45 Colt handloads, .38 handloads, and .41 Mag handloads. I generally prefer large shot, but in these lil bitty cases, I found that smaller shot (#8 or #9) works best.

Just be sure and shoot a few at paper so you can see how you pattern at different ranges.
I tried some 9mm shot loads in my Hi-Power. Beyond 3 feet (not yards), the pattern was donut-shaped, ensuring that anything I aimed at would be surrounded by shot, but would not actually get hit.
