I want to think that once upon a time I saw a product that was like a little rubber slip on nipple that went over the spur of a hammer that proviced better grip. Anyone know of such a thing? Thanks.

I can't say that I've ever heard of it but you could get the same effect with the vinyl dip sold for putting on tool handles. It'll be a few bucks at a hardware store.
