Fighting folder carry trick.

Having carried and used a Benchmade Griptillian for some time, I became accustomed to clipping it in my left-front pocket as a backup to my duty pistol that covers my right front pocket.

Now that I have a non-ambi Emerson P-SARK going through the day with me, I had to come up with some way to carry it that still allowed me to access it. Remember that my right pocket is obscured.

Well, a buddy gave me a cheapo ankle holster he bought for his KelTec P3AT. It's one of those elastic holsters with a velcro strap, and didn't fit his leg too well. It did fit over my duty boots quite nicely, however, and I was able to invert it so that the Emerson slips in where a muzzle would have stuck out.

Now I have a folding knife strapped to the inside of my left leg, just north of the ankle. Like any ankle rig, this isn't the fastest draw, but it's better than nothing. The Emerson is not a daily-use item and is there if I ever need it, like when I might be grappling on the ground with a gremlin.

Just an idea. Use it if you can.

Neat idea -- a BUK (back up knife). :)

You talk of your duty piece and your back up for gremlins. What type of work do you do, or are you just a run of the mill ninja?

Duty pistol usually refers to a handgun carried by LE.

Vaughn T,

If you send it to Emerson with an explanation that you are a LEO and carrying it as backup they will reconfigure the knife whichever way you want it.

Actually, gentlemen, I'm not crazy enough to be a cop. I move money around the southeast in a big, armor-plated truck.

After attending the Suarez Intl class on close-range gunfighting, I started to think that I needed more options in terms of defensive tools and where I keep them. I had originally wanted to go with a snubnose revolver on the ankle, but they are too big to wear over my boots without printing.

When I was gifted with this cheapo ankle holster for a gun I don't own (it's made to fit something like the P3AT), I had to find something to do with it, just to be polite. When I got dumped by this chick, I had to buy a nice knife to make me feel better. One plus one seemed to equal two. The upside was the look on my friend's face when I showed him the rig being used. :)

Ninja? I'm working on it!

I applaud your honesty, Vaughn. Some seemed to know more about you than they thought.
BTW, I think you would probably make a good Ninja.;)

Ninja 101: Make them see what they want to see. Make them think what they want to think. Misdirection is mind-control.

I told you I was working on it, Piney! :neener:
