Can anyone recommend a scope for a Ruger 10/22. Right now its completely stock, but future plans call for a bull barrel and a nice aftermarket stock. Figured the first upgrade I'd get is a scope so I can go have fun with it now in its stock form.
Buddy of mine has a Savage .17hmr with a BSA Sweet 17, nice scope..one thing that it has that I would like to get is...you zero the scope in, then after that...you click in your yardage as needed.

On my Ruger 10/22 I have a Simmons 1022T. It has an adjustable reticle. The scope has seen three years of steady use and is very clear with outstanding contrast. I paid about $100 for it. They are available through Natchez, SWFA and about anywhere.
Personally I would make the scope my second priority and get a Volksquarten hammer. That costs about $10.00 and will lighten up your trigger to about 3-4 pounds.

I'll second the recommendation for the Volksquarten hammer as "most improvement for the buck."

I do not know if these are still on sale, but I got one and I am real happy with it. It has the "target turrets" you spoke of, and has an adjustable objective you need with a .22

Hey guys it's VOLQUARTSEN , as in http://www.volquartsen.com/ , and they do make great parts.
The type of scope depends on how you will be using the rifle.

This one has a 2-7x32 Micro-Dot scope to go along with a Volquartsen action, Hogue stock, and AWC Ultra II integrally suppressed barrel.

I personally have a Burris Compact 4-12x32 with the fine plex reticle, target knobs, and adjustable parallax. A very solid and perfectly sized scope for the 10/22.
