Which Should I Get?

I'd appreciate some input/opinions on what should be my next firearm purchase? It will be for informal target shooting and plinking. TIA.

What do you have already?

If it's just for plinking and such, I'd go with the Storm. I've heard it's very enjoyable to shoot, it's chambered in 9mm (Cheap and good for introducing new shooters), and it just looks frickin cool. Also it takes existing Beretta mags, which means you can use any full-capacity magazines you may have, or pick some up for rather cheap.

This is what I currently own:

Ruger Bearcat .22LR
S&W M63 4" .22LR
Seecamp LSW .32acp
Colt Detective Special (1st series) .38 special
S&W M10 .38 special
Steyr M9 9mm
SIG P225 9mm
Beretta Vertec Inox 9mm
Colt WW2 Reproduction M1911A1 .45acp

I've owned many more firearms over the years, but I've sold and traded quite a few. (A practice I've finally learned not to do anymore!)

Looks like you need a rifle.

Since you alread have the Vertec, I voted for the Storm. Same ammo, same mags.

Plus, you can hang all the uber-tactical doodads on the Storm which will instantly make you a super-ninja SWAT operator.

Second choice is the .30 carbine. It's a light, handy rifle that actually has a little oomph and range to it.

Since you already have two .38's, I voted for the marlin lever gun. Shared ammo (will chamber .38), great companion.

The 357 has it all over the other long gun choices here, for plinking fun (IMHO) and for range of power (for sure). I love my Marlin; it's accurate and flat shooting to around a hundred yards (with 357); gentle as a 22 (with standard 38); and just dang fun to work. Others who have'em will be along soon to corroborate my rave.

Since you have the Vertec in 9mm, you can use the mags with the Storm also. Great carbine I think. I like it a lot. Feels good to handle and everything.

Personally, I don't think you can beat the cool factor of an M1 Carbine--but I'm a lover of military arms generally.

My first inclination would be to recomend the m1 carbine, but, since you have the vertec, I will throw my vote for the storm as well.

Me, I like the M1 carbine.

Having just spent the day at the range tinkering with a lever action in the Cowboy Action Shooting section I voted for the Marlin. Marlins are exceedingly good guns anyway and the lever actions are just plain fun to shoot. I went through a 100 rounds way too fast and was wishing I had bought more ammo. I'll be ordering one of the Marlin's in 45LC real soon so I can compete and just for general plinking (I know, I know, 45LC is more expensive than 38/357...I just really like the caliber and a friend has reloading dies for the 45LC).

I gotta go with the lever gun. Everybody needs a lever gun and the Marlin is a fine example.

Only reason I didn't choose the M1 Carbine is because I would prefer it to be a real war baby and I am not sure if the Fultons are real war babies or not. If they are actual GI guns refinished than that is the route I would go.

I have a Marlin in .45 Colt and it is the one rifle that is never sitting waiting for someone to shoot it.

I would get the Marlin. I love mine. But, I'm also biased...I prefer wood to synthetic. And, I'm cheap...I would get a Kel-tec Sub2000 before a Storm.

Levers do seem like fun guns, and it's one of those things that every gun collector needs. I went with the Storm, because if it's sole purpose is plinking it might as well have a novelty effect too, and I think the look of the Storm gives it a good novelty effect.

I voted M1 Carbine, but after looking at your gun list I would vote for both a Home Defense 12 Ga and a M1 Garand (or M1A). Use your handgun to fight your way to a real weapon!

M1 Carbine.
They are more fun than a person should be allowed to have.
And feeding them is fairly cheap, too.

sounds like you're all set as far as plinking goes. Go for the M1 I'd say
