Hey Gents. I have the chance to get a 10" TC Contender Barrel in 45 Win Mag. I do not have any experince with this round. What can you tell me about it? I have a 44 Rem Mag I use for deer hunting. How does this 45 win mag compare - good, better, no good or what. Appreciate any info you boy'z can come up with! Thanks, Half

I have one and hut deer with it once or twice a year, good round a little tuff to reload for the contender, looks like a 45acp on hormones, it tends to fall in betweeen the 44 amg loads and the lower 454 loads, more than likely it is closer to the newer 480ruger.

Mine is sighted in for 100 yards with a Lepuy red dot.

Iv'e got one in an LAR Grizzly that I have taken one deer with several years ago, did a good jog. It's a bit more power than a .44mag, but to shoot it much you have to reload.

I would think your 44 Magnum would do pretty much anything the 45 Win Mag would do. I had a chance to buy a LAR Grizzly in either 45 WM or 44 Mag and I took the 44 Mag as ammo is widely available. YMMV
