Who would you nominate?

I posted a bit on gun controls laws and how I see them in light of U.S. v Miller on my blog (http://heartlesslibertarian.blogspot.com/2004_05_30_heartlesslibertarian_archive.html#108610623805564473) (yes, that's a shameless plug). One comment on my post was that given the current makeup of the SCOTUS, the chances of overturning any gun control laws don't look good at the moment.

So I thought: there's a good chance that one or more justices will retire/die during the next presidential term. If you were president, who would be on your short list?

My list so far:

Janice Rodgers Brown, currently on the California Supreme Court: great legal mind, strict constructionist, self admitted Second Amendment 'absolutist'

Alex Kozinski, currently on the 9th U.S Circiut Court: somebody has that quote of his in their signature line. Do I need to say anything more?

Who's on your list?

You know, isn't it kind of bizarre that probably the two most pro-RKBA judges around both work in the most anti-gun state in the country?

They go where they are needed most, I guess.

Now, can we clone them?

I'd just as soon see SCOTUS vacancies remain permanent. Increase the work load to the point the survivors really want to examine a case.

Perhaps then we can cut out a lot of the nonsense that passes for SCOTUS decisions.
