I have been hungrily watching some 6 point (western count) bucks around my 40 and the nieghbors'. These are big ,reddish(from under redwoods) blacktail deer that are largely undisturbed as nobody hunts them locally. I 've seen more big bucks this year than ever before. Well today, in full Velvet , with a 6 and 4 pointer, a magnificent 10 pointer wanders in to the upper 10 acres of apples. Just a couple a weeks more! I sighted in my .308Savage 99 with its old Weaver 3x post at 100yards, my 1952 Win. .270 with 4X Unertl at 200 yards and my .35 Remington 141 pump with Redfield peep at 50 yards last week at the Swiss rifle club. I got my (local) A zone tags and am chomping at the bit to shoot one or two -out of my yard :D

You guys are lucky. We have to wait until early Sept for the first part of bow season to start.
I've got a brand new Summit stand I can't wait to climb with.

Bob,
Our bowhunting goes right through the rut and into the gun season in Dec.
Those big boys get pretty careless when seeking out that "special" female. :D
