What is as accurate as a S&W 586?

I had one of these S&W 586s and it was by far the accurate revolver I have ever shot. Is there another revolver out there that is as accurate for about the same price ($300)?
I want a .357 or a .38spl only. Thanks.

If you are mainly interested in accuracy I suggest you look at Dan Wesson revolvers. Because of the way their barrels are mounted they are exceptionally accurate. They dominate the Metallic Silhouette game (revolver class) because of this.
If you are willing to go to a .38 Special consider a good, used Colt Officer’s Model Target or Officer’s Model Match. Back before the automatics became popular these two revolvers ruled in the NRA Bullseye Tournaments. Because they were target guns extra care was taken in their manufacture – hand fitting of the kind you can’t get today in anything short of a custom shop product costing around or well over $1,000.00. You can often find them on the Internet auctions for prices within your proposed budget. When used with 148 gr. Mid-range wadcutters they can shoot one-hole groups at 25 yards and under 3 inches (sometimes well under) at 50.

Ditto on the GP 100.
My 6" barreled short shroud GP 100 is just as accurate as my S&W 686 Plus 6" barrel.
And my GP 100 with 4" barrel full shroud also has exceptional accuracy.

Greeting's All,
While I have found my Smith & Wesson 6" barrel 686-5
to be most accurate, I tend to believe that my previously
owned S&W 6.5" model 27 and 6" model 28 were just as
accurate. Other's noteworthy of mentioning were my 6"
Colt Python, 6" Colt Trooper MK-III, and a 4" stainelss
steel Ruger Security-Six. Also, the single-action 4-5/8"
barrel Ruger Blackhawk Convertible wasn't bad either!
Best Wishes,

If you liked it so well, why not just get the S&W 586? Just curious.
