A Kahr pm9 question

This is only my second post, but I really love reading all the helpful information that I find on THR. I have a question about a Kahr pm9. I have rather big hands, will it be difficult for me to grip a Kahr. I read that the gun is very thin and I am concerned about this. I need a gun that is easy to conceal and "deep carry". I want something in 9mm, so it has adequate stopping power. But the most important thing is its light weight and 100% concealable. I am thinking of carrying it in a "smart carry" holster, one that goes just above my crotch. I grew up around firearms, but only revolvers. I was a pretty good shot long ago with the S&W model 19, which was a 38, and the model 28, which was a 357 the California Highway Patrol used to carry. I tried shooting a Glock years ago, but wasn't so accurate. I also tried a Walther PPK, but my big hands, or improper grip, kept hitting the magazine release(I assume) because it kept jamming. My point is I need a gun that is extremely easy to conceal, and a revolver seems to be too big. I read the Kahr pm9 is great so I'm considering this gun. I need your advice on a gun that is easy to conceal, is good for somebody with big hands, and hopefully shoots like a revolver. By this I mean is easy for somebody who is used to a revolver to shoot. I think a revolver was so easy for me because of the sights. Money isn't an issue for me when I choose a handgun, for I won't put a price tag on my life. Thanks in advance for any advice you may give me and I'm sorry if this post is too long. I'll soon be back in my hometown, Los Angeles, and hope to meet with some fellow THR members at that time. God Bless all gun lovers.

Only way to tell how it fits your hand is for you to hold one, if you can rent/borrow one to actually shoot, even better.
I hit with my much smaller PM40 better than I do with my full sized Glock 17 or 21, I suspect its the trigger, as I will get better groups with the Glocks than the Kahr off a rest.
You won't find anytning smaller or lighter unless you are willing to wait and take a chance on a Rorhbaugh after plunking down $1000 sight unseen.
The P9 with a bit longer grip might fit your hand better but this works against deep concealment carry, its also about 1/2" longer.
Good Luck.

It's easy enough to shoot and control +P rounds in my PM9. It's surprisingly accurate for it's size. I always carry mine with the shorter 6 round mag but it's much easier to shoot the longer 7 round version though. It's a very concealable and shootable gun. I've recommended Kahr's to several friends.

Aren't there any "rental" ranges in the LA area. Check the local phone book or advise members of this BB when you are back in LA (check "rallying point" section) and see if anyone owns a PM9 that will let you shoot it. Members of the firearm community are very helpfull, by the way, welcome to THR. I have no problem with a P9, however, I put Hogue slip on grips on my PM9. My hand is large enough I find HK P7M13, with Nill grips, to be about right, that's large by the way. Hope this helps, but you really need to shoot it before buying, if you can.:)

For what it's worth, I just measured my hand. From the heel to the top of my middle finger is 8". Measuring from my thumb to my pinkie is 9". I hope that will help regards the following: I have a PM9 and i find that holding it with two fingers and the pinkie underneath is not a problem. There is a space in my hand due to the thinness of the grips. The result is that it will take practice
to get the proper feel to shoot accuately. It's a tradeoff but I think it's worth it. I find it to be a very reliable weapon and I'm sure it is more accurate than I am. Also, if you are not sure, you can usually pick up a used one in very good condition for $450. If you don't like it afterwards, you can sell for the same price.

The Kahr is a great gun, but try one first. If you are prone to accidentally hitting the mag release button, the Kahr may not be for you. If you have especially large hands, it will be very easy for you to accidentally hit the mag release.
