For coyote hunting we can use calibers 'no larger than .30",now I'm a little rusty on the mm conversions but wouldn't the 7.62x54 be legal?Also can scope mounts be put on Nagants without gunsmithing?

7.62x54 is essentially a .30 caliber cartidge. 7.62x51 is the .308 NATO. How close is close?:)

Darrell's Scout Mounts require no gunsmithing and work great on Mosins. I've got two and love them.

He's out right now, but should have a new run soon. You might get lucky and pick up a used one on the Parallax board. That's how I got both of mine.

7.62x54R is .311", but since .30-06 is .308" I don't think anyone will fuss at you.
