Ok so I had to fly out to San Diego yesterday so I bought my normal reading material for the flight. You know Combat Handguns, Guns and Ammo, etc. So while reading on the plane I get to an article on the new Para LTC (single stack commander sized 1911) which was neat but the interesting thing was a side bar on the power extractor. A three piece internal extractor that uses a coil spring. To me this seems like a great way to have a more reliable extractor without having a fugly external one. So can this thing be used in other manufacturers 1911s or are Paras extractor channels sized differently from others?

Worthwhile improvement or Rube Goldberg Contraption? Only time will tell.

Best I can tell, the Para Power Extractor tunnel is larger than Colt. A real 1911 extractor tunnel could probably be reamed out to take the Para parts. If they are being sold separately.

According to a recent free advertisement (magazine article) "Several pistolsmiths are looking into incorporating Para extractors in their custom guns."

The more I watch these new innovations that are patented for the purpose of addressing the "problems" with the 1911's internal extractor...the more I shake my head and wonder why they simply don't admit to the fact that John Moses Browning answered the question 93 years ago with spring-tempered 1090 steel.

What I like best about the Para LTC...

No Forward Slide Serrations.
So at least they are not ugly.

Yeah no Front slide serrations but they still have Para's crappy nickeled controls(Slide stop, Thumb safety, grip safety)on a blued gun YUCK!

What I like best about the Para LTC...No Forward Slide Serrations.
So at least they are not ugly. Para only used forward serations on the Limited models. The rear slide serations on the new guns are cut too wide and deep so you can't get a decent grip. Another "change" that wasn't needed. No wonder everone is buying up milspec Springfields.
