If I buy a Wilderness brand gun belt for all 'round use, not CCW (yet), will I draw attention from my local coppers?
I know you don't know them but what I am looking for is do these belts stand out? Do they scream "Hey, this dude might have a gun!"
Have you ever seen someone wearing one? If so what did you think about what the person might have?
I really like everything I've read about the belt but if it is going to get me hassled I'll go for a leather one instead.
I should note that I have no intention of wearing 5.11 type pants, just normal everyday casual wear or jeans.
Thanks,
H2L

Think it would be fine for range or outdoor use, but in everyday use, I've found that they really don't hold pants up well.
I really doubt anyone would notice except the folks who already know what it is.

They are kind of overkill for everyday use unless you are really packing way too much stuff, but for actual range and wildland use I would'nt have anything else. At one time they were doing a ring belt that was a little more discrete. I sweat horrifically and during the summer and cannot wear a leather belt without ruining it, so the Instructor belt is all I wear when working.
I would certainly recognize it, but I do not think it would rise to the level of probable cause to make a stop, which I think is what you meant by "hassled." As for assumptions about what you are carrying, a wise cop is going to assume that you are armed anyway, so it does'nt make any difference.

Mind you, both the Wilderness Belt and the 5.11's were outdoor gear long before they were "tactical".

I'd shoot you on sight with that belt.....;)

Someone who would have "hassled" you about your belt, is probably going to hassle you about something else (real or imaginary). Goobers will be Goobers, whether you wear a wilderness belt or 5.11 pants, or whatever. So why alter you wardrobe?

Goobers will be Goobers, whether you wear a wilderness belt or 5.11 pants, or whatever. So why alter you wardrobe? I agree. I have worn a Wilderness belt every single day for years. I've never once had anyone say anything about it ... it just never comes up.
Additionally - most cops aren't "shooters" and probably won't know the difference anyway, IMO.

Thank you everybody.
mpthole...you say you wear yours everyday? Do you find it keeps your pants well secured?
Fed168's post has me a bit curious on that matter.

Do you find it keeps your pants well secured? Yes. But I must admit that I don't wear a gun on my belt every day. Mostly, I like the fact that the Wilderness belt is infinitely adjustable, along with my waist line. :)

I wear mine every day and I've never been stopped or bothered by a cop. And they do keep my pants up just fine.

I have one, wear it every day, and I really like it. Holds my pants up fine, with or without a gun.
I also wouldn't worry about it seeming to scream "gun".

If you are carrying legally, who cares ? If I see someone with a Wilderness belt, I will feel that yes, he may be carrying (legally) and that he is probably fairly knowledgable about firearms and gear.
The morons with guns that I am worried about DO NOT wear Wilderness Instructor Belts.

So as long as I don't wear a shirt that says "I'm with Glock" in big letters with a big arrow pointing to my hip I should be fine?

I was thinking more along the lines of oddly colored jeans 5 sizes too big that make it sooo obvious when you have something heavy in your pocket/waistband while wearing some type of thug t-shirt (also about 5 sizes too big).
That screams GUN (Jennings .380, held sideways above the head at a 30 degree angle to the ground loaded with three types of ammo, usually, but not always, all the same [correct] caliber, which "my boy Tee-tee got from his cuzin who traded some ready rock for it").
A Wilderness belt subtly says, "Glock/Sig/Beretta/HK 9mm/.40/.45 held isosoles (sp?) with a thumb-foward grip that I learned at one of the many trainings classes I have attended on my own time and at my own expense loaded with premium self-defense ammunition in pre-ban magazines refurbished with Wolf springs".
