My buddy suggested using a magazine dump pouch for an extra shotshell carrier.

Anyone try this, and does it work?

I was sitting on the can the other night and thought of this too!
In addition, how about one of those SAW pouches?

Bianchi and Safariland make five round shotshell dump pouches and have for about 20 years--
Work just like the Plain-clothes 38 dump pouches--
They're great--

What is a mag dump pouch?

They're big pouches for dumping magazines into.

Run low of .223, you just dump the mag in there instead of your cargo pocket, trying to put it back in your magpouches, or leaving it on the ground for me to pick up after you hightail it.

Anything big enough to hold shells and fit your hand will work.

Only problem is that loose shells won't allow you to grasp each reload in the same orientation. Won't allow you to mix slug/shot loads like elastic loops carrier will. When running and ducking, you'll probably bounce a few outta your pouch. -I have personally experienced this last one.

I like 12-rd shotshell carriers with elastic loops or, pouches specifically designed to hold shotshells, they have an elastic cuff on top that won't let bouncing shells pop out.

I know that El Tejon uses a gas mask bag and I use a surplus British Army utility bag...five dolla each.
