Fun reading, though St. Louis is much better... apparently they have decided not to blog many of the cities they have travelled to... I guess the visits weren't suitable for propaganda purposes.

My favorite quote:

"There is an African Art Festival I decide to hit. I get a fairly positive response, but once again had someone tell me he didn't want the police taking away his assault weapons! What is up in St. Louis?"

Not that I'd EVER wish ill will on anyone, but if they were assaulted and brutalized I'd be interested to know if they'd rethink their position about women being able to defend themselves.

Personally, I got a laugh out of their comment:
If Pocahantas were alive today, she'd support saving the assault weapons ban. You'd think they'd back up their statement with some sort of support or logic, but they didn't. They just made a statement.

Someday I'll stop trying to apply logic to an illogical group.

They call it Moms on the road, but it is two guys driving the big pink rig. What do you expect. This group refuses to empower themselves and they are pretty much at the mercy of men.

Historical Fact: Captain John Smith purchased the land that would become Richmond from the father of Pocahantas.

If Pocahantas were alive today, she'd support saving the assault weapons ban.

BEST QUOTE EVER.

dats a good one
:)

while the 5 minute RKBA handbook may say
"don't mess with true believers"

When they drive a pink RV into your town,
IMHO, ya gotta at least give go them a tweak.

i can imagine that a counter campaign presenting them with a bag of bovine garden enhanser at every stop might rattle their chains.

....garden enhancer. Now that's great! I do like this THR method of getting away from foul language and noisy ideas. Somewhere I heard of "dirt nap expediter" instead of a deadly weapon.

Let's get a parade of HUMVEES in camo loaded with guys with "assault" guns and follow the pink rig babes around the country. I wish I were rich enuf to launch such an expedition. Imagine the news coverage!

Alas. If 'round the world trips were a dollar a dozen, my money wouldn't get me out of sight.

We use the time to search for the CD player. We find it, finally, hidden behind the front face of the radio.

And these people are have decided what is an assault weopon?

Best from St Louis........

I also had one gentleman tell me he didn't want the police breaking into his house and taking away his assault weapons! I back away slowly.

I think that their appearance in San Antonio should be greeted with an escort into town.

For those that don't know it, you can drive around in Texas with a long gun in plain view. I wonder how they'd react to an escort of pickups filled with guys with ARs and AKs.

Warren
June 10, 2004, 02:35 PM
How about inviting them to go shooting?

If any accept put them through a standard safety course and then out to the range. Start small and then work up to "assault rifles".

Sure it is a low percentage play but it might just start the mental ball rolling.

Omigod! People who don't want to have their stuff stolen by the government are, like, weird and squinchy and stuff! They're always like "Hey, dude, don't take away my stuff! I've got rights or some junk!" And I'm always, "Omigod, you totally suck!"

I notice they seem to set great store by getting their 30-40 lobbying cards signed. I don't know if those are postcards, or the actual witness forms for the hearings, but if they're the official forms, how cool would it be for the NRA to formally request 4 million forms to mail to their members?

What are they? What do they look like? What kind of info do they contain? Can someone post a pic of one?

We're planning a reception for them and it would be kinda fun to pass out our own versions.

Congratulations San Antonio!

I would have been disappointed if they made it out of Texas without their lies being directly confronted. Also thought it was interesting that their first priority was to "shut up the gun nuts" rather than try to debate them.

That movie made me stop playing ping pong for a couple of months.

It ranks right up there with Army of Darkness and Rocky Horror.

I never connected the pink bus to Priscilla until you brought that up M&M.

Perhaps we should just start referring to their pink bus, baggy sweat pants, blog tour as the "Godzilla Lieing Queen of the Interstate" tour?

Just a thought.

"also had one gentleman tell me he didn't want the police breaking into his house and taking away his assault weapons! I back away slowly."

Probably afraid that he would conjure up his evil black rifle, say the magic words, and it would self animate and begin "spraying bullets" from it's "10000 round clip"!
And it wouldn't be just any "clip", it would be one of those "magic clips" that changes a .223 to a 105mm, puts an explosive tip on it and increases it's velocity to 100000 x10 fps.

I wonder what would happen if they replaced the gun with a picture of a muslim or a black man?

The pro-gun supporters were carrying signs and banners, and they have a new flag: it is the old "Don't Tread on Me" but with an M-16 on it, and another with an AK-47, which really makes them look crazy, putting a communist weapon on a flag that is part of American history. It was also noted by some of the conventioneers, and at least one press member, that of the many signs portraying women carrying assault weapons, all of them were being carried by men, no pro-gun women were present.

That yellow flag rules.

Boy, do I wish stupid hurt. How do you explain to these children that there are Communists, and there are weapons, but there are no Communist weapons because inanimate steel tools are not swayed by the glories of the Marxist Dialectic?
We make fun, but these people really, truly, deeply believe that rifles have souls and minds. How else do you explain that it makes any difference at all that a weapon was once used by Communist nations? How else could a "Communist weapon" like the AK47 be any worse than an M16? It's insane.

Besides, some of our staunchest allies use AK types. Are the Poles evil Communists? (Actually, they're firmly on our side, which probably doesn't score them any points with the MMM crowd.)

I mean, seriously, am I the crazy one here? I thought "Communists" were people. Do these people know the ideological bent of their other inanimate possessions? I mean, if my rifle is a Communist, are their salad forks Libertarians? Republican flashlights? Democratic door knobs?

Don't be so disengenuous. It is amply noticeable that AKs are symbolic of the former Soviet Union and of Third World "liberationists.". It is not that the rifles are "communists," per se, but that they are a potent reminder of it and the wars fought with it during the Cold War.

http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/flags/mz-lgflag.gif

Here is Mozambique for instance.

I think the AK is a better symbol for a flag of defiance than is the AR, which is indisputably a symbol of governmental authority in this country. By appropriating the image of the ultimate in reviled EBRs, and placing it on a flag that was meant to be seen in defiance of the forces of the Crown, is a better propaganda effort than using an image of the government issue black rifle.

>Art's Grammaw wuz here<

I liked their driving tips: When passing, do not look at the clearance on the right, you'll just scare yourself. Driving a big vehicle obviously requires special skills, like ignoring your surroundings and hoping the other guy maintains a safe distance (no problem with a pink bus).

Regards.

My favorite is the pictures - obviously there are only 12 people at these gatherings, so they have to push them all into the frame to make it look busier:
