The Washington state Supreme Court has overturned the police practice of requesting IDs from vehicle passengers unless there is suspision of a crime or other reason to do so. Note the weird spin the Seattle Times article headline puts against the ruling. I would call it a pro-LEO spin, except I know there are some freedom-loving LEOs that are for this ruling.

"One of the great principles in American law is that a person can walk down the street free of any police interference," said defense lawyer Tom Conom, who wrote a friend-of-the-court brief in the case for the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. "That's what makes us different in America."

Not only different, but better.

"To law-and-order types, it's a tool to catch bad guys"

Wasn't that the mentality during Hitler's reign???

or...as was stated....

"But until the courts spell out exactly what sorts of reasons are acceptable for ID checks, it's going to be a matter of trial and error on the fly, said Charlie Blackman, a Snohomish County deputy prosecutor who helped argue the case."

"Trial and Error"?!!!!

I thought this was already spelled out in the 2 amendment!

"This is one more thing that police have to think about when they're at the roadside," he said. "And they don't get to sit at a desk and think about stuff at some leisure like I do."

"But until the courts spell out exactly what sorts of reasons are acceptable"??!!?!!!

If you get involved with a LEO,..... is it not,........ what sorts of reasons are acceptable???
:uhoh:
