Bought a box of them to try today along with my usual box of Winchester Value Pack FMJ.

The Remington barks a little harder, groups smaller and is CLEANER!!!!! Me likes

Kimber at 15 yards, 5 rounds offhand slow fire.

Another good ammo buy happening right now is at Bass Pro.

UMC 9mm (115 gr I think) $3.99 per 50....which saves you about $3 over the Wal Mart WWB 100 pack.

Bass Pro also has that Spectrum PCA (Polymer Cased Ammo) in .223 for $2.99 per 20.

Good plinking ammo - not reloadable. It's as accurate as I am, has less recoil, and didn't malfunction in my AR at all.

My local Wally World doesn't carry that ammo. They don't even carry Golden Saber any more; just Federal Hydra-Shok.

Dangit, I wish we had a Bass Pro Shop here. Maybe Sports Authority will be selling it too.

I just got back from taking wifey to WallyWorld and they were totally wiped out of ammo. I really wanted to pick up a couple boxes of the Winchester .45 value packs, too. I've found they usually restock on Wednesday or Thursday, and it goes pretty fast.

I'll cruise in this coming Thursday after work, and keep my eyes open for the Remington. Sounds like it's well worth a try.

The only problem is ... it's at Wal-Mart. ;)

If you can actually find anyone to help you at the sporting goods counter, and if they actually have it, then it's great.

You know - oddly enough I've never had a problem at the local WallyWorld buying ammo, other than getting the counterperson to place their hand on exactly what I want.

"No, two boxes to the right."

"No, your other right".

" The one that says forty-five".

"No, that one says forty - yeah, that one, with the five after the four".

Actually that's only happened once or twice.

After reading what others seem to go through, I guess I'm lucky. I've never been asked for I.D. I've never been "escorted" to the door before being given the goods. It's always been a positive experience. I pay, take my bag full of goodies, and proceed on with my shopping adventure.

Must be my honest face. ;)

Interesting.

I haven't seen those yet, but I did recently see a Rem/UMC "Mega Pack" at Sportsman's Whorehouse. It is 250 rounds of the yellow-boxed stuff... I believe it was $22.

What is your opinion of Rem/UMC anyway? I've shot some of it, but it seemed to do just as well as WWB wally-pack.

PlaytheAces, that souns like my trips to Wal-mart. No!!!! .38, not .380.

It's kind of the same thing as when you go to Dunkin Donuts.

I've never been "escorted" to the door before being given the goods.

When I purchased my Marlin 60 at Wal-Mart, the female manager had to carry it for me to the door and she said "Yeah, I know it's dumb that I have to do this, but it just gives you a chance to load it outside and then you can come back in"

Sadly, she isn't there anymore. :(

I was escorted to the door, with the S.G. dude carrying the rifle, when I bought a Marlin 336 at Wal Mart. That was the only gun I've bought at WalMart, and hopefully it'll stay that way.

As far as ammo, I've always been free to carry it around the store if I pay at the S.G. counter. If it's late, and the registers are counted out, sometimes they'll take it to a front register, and sometimes they just hand it over.

I've seen the green Remington boxes, didn't check if they were 50 or 100 round though.

Maybe we should all bring laser pointers to Walmart, it would sure speed up the ammo shopping.

I've only been escorted out while buying complete firearms.

They make that stuff in JHP too, eh? All my Wallyworld has in Remington UMC green box is 230 gr RN, at 9.98FRNs per box of 50.

I love it when you go to Wal-Mart to buy ammo, and they ask you "Are You A Cop?" That would be some PD that would make its officers buy ammo at Wal-Mart!

I've seen the greenbox UMC at Dicks, but not at Wal Mart yet. But I bought some of the UMC 180 gr. .40 S&W 50 rd. yellow box at Wal Mart last week. The 100 rd UMC box in 9mm is referenced on Remington's Web Site, and I asked a Wal Mart Sporting Goods Mgr about availability of it but he had no idea what I was talking about.

What is your opinion of Rem/UMC anyway?

I'v only had one experience with it,bought a box while I was waiting for my dies, and it was absolute garbage. 44 mag 180 gr JSP. With every other rd the recoil felt noticeably diferent, sounded diferent, and one or two per cylinder had a muzzle AND cylinder flash about a foot long. I was shooting at 15 yds and got larger groups than I get at 75 with my handloads. Shot 2 cylinders and took the rest home and pulled bullets and weighed powder charges, which deviated 1.7 grs. Comparing max weights to book data I think it must have been 296 or H110. Obviously a bad box,but it made me very happy that I reload! I emailed the tech dept at Remington (only address I had) about it but never got a reply. I'v tried a box or two of the WWB,40S&W,45ACP and had great results.

I had just recently bought some of the green and white boxed remington/umc to run through my 1911. I had a heck of a lot of extraction problems with it, could just be my gun but the brass just seems to like to stick in the chamber. The wife is going to run what we have left over through both of our 1911s, I'll let you know if it sticks in both or not.

The yellow box UMC I have shot seemed to be a little sooty but no harder to clean up than WWB. The green box UMC JHP I have only tried in .45. It did better than I had expected.

It's the cheapest HP I have found. I'll be buying more. At only $3 more per 100 why should I buy FMJ?

I love buying ammos at Wallys. One day, I wiped out the entire Wednesday stock and bought 25 boxes of WIN .40S&W -- went on sale for $12.00 per 100rds value pack. It was an excellent deal!

2500 Rounds for $300.00 - now that's a deal, although I found at least 10-12 uselss bullets (dented and squished).

Peace,
