Pride & Joy

What Military "issued" rifle is your pride and joy and why?

Mine is a minty FN49 in 8mm. REASON: Because its a semi-auto, fires a powerful cartridge, exhibits exceptional workmanship, and the surplus ammo goes for about .08 a round.

My M1 Garand.

Just so much history tied to that gun.

One of my instructors is a former Marine of the 1950s and when I told him I owned one, he lit up like a Christmas tree.

EDIT: Yeah, I beat you to it. BTW, my SA was made in 1944.

I don't think I need to explain why. :)

Edit: DOH! Tommy beat me to it!

My Inland M1 carbine. It belonged to my Dad, he paid about $25 for it from the NRA. First rifle I shot and I'm still shooting it.

Right now It's my AR15.

Still..I'd rather have a peice of history like the FN 49. I saw a very nice one at a local dealers but he wanted $600. A bit too steep for me.

I guess I'll have to just save my pennies and get a CMP Garand.

Good Shooting

Hungarian M44 shoots like a dream and looks great too.
I love that gun.

While my Mosins, Mausers, 1917s and the like are cool, the pride and joy of my milsurp collection is my M96/11 Schmidt-Rubin. It's built like (dare I say it?) a Swiss watch.

I don't consider my FAL, HK91, Daewoo or AK to be "milsurps" as they are semiauto civilian lookalike clones of real military rifles.

3 gun

My M1 Carbine, Inland (not a re import). The first one of 3 that I own. I really enjoy shooting this little rifle. The only sentiment is that it is from WWII.
