I have a Swiss Army infantry watch that advertises itself as having luminous hands and markers. When I shine a light on it and then go into the dark, it glows quite well for about an hour or so. Same as if I'm in the sun all day.

My question is, is there any way to keep it glowing longer? I know the common answer is to get a watch with tritium dials, but I really like the looks of this watch and would really like to stay with it.

Thanks!

Only thing you can do is charge it back up with a flashlight (key chain) or something.

What you want is a watch with tritium markers. That 'glow in the dark' stuff really sucks.

Look for Luminox watches. http://www.luminox.com

I can still see my glow in the dark watch to at least 4 a.m. The bright glow lasts a good hour or more, and the after-glow is so long I though I had a Radium throwback from China.

So I bought some of that kinda paint. Based on Google, the new glow technology uses a couple of rare earths in a crystal structure using a different phosphorus compound (can't remember which, but the old short-glow stuff might have been a zinc/phosphorus compound). In green, the new stuff is supposed to after-glow for 10 hours.

I've put it on white-dot sights and love it. I think it should be standard equipment on all military rifles, cause the normal daytime exposure of patrols, etc. would fully charge the stuff in most latitudes.
