To add my two cents to the ongoiing "What's up with the 1911s?" debate, here's my case (that is, if the image uploads). The original Custom Classic. Dead-on accuracy out of the box, completely reliable recycling, fast sight realignment after recoil, and great balance. What's not to love. I've tried many of them and this is the best for me.

That model was my first pistol and is still my favorite. Glad to hear you're having as much luck with yours as I have with mine. :D

It is indeed a great 1911. I have a few of them myself.

The older Classic Customs were built when Kimber was doing a really
good job, and most did just this well. Kimber used MIM small parts from the get-go, and the parts held up well. I know of a few early Kimbers that have seen tens of thousands of rounds, and have yet to have a parts failure. They cost Colt and Springfield a very large share of the market with those guns.

Why they seem to have lost touch with whatever vendor was supplying their MIM parts is beyond me...but if they don't get the problem addressed, and soon...they'll lost the ground that they fought hard to gain.

Nice Kimber. Hang onto it.

And it's never had one problem.

Too big to carry most days but so great to shoot any day.
