Will the aimpoint tasco from cheaperthandirt for $30.00 stand up to the recoil from a 7.62X39???
It states handgun and shotgun so it's seems safe to assume.
I purchased the set screw rear cover scope mount and it's all locked down tight but before I touch off a 75 round drum and destroy a perfectly good scope, I figured I'd ask...
Thanks.

I have an el cheapo red dot on my AK (SAR1) .... and it survives thus far. In this case I think the recoil absorbtion factor thru gas operation ''softens'' the impulse and so does not seem to disturb the sights.

I'd go for it .... it's not too much to lose if .. and I stress IF .... it doesn't work out. If it's mainly plinking you want then it'll do well IMO.

Thanks for the Humble Opinion of a fellow gunner.
I assumed that the recoil on my SAR1 Romanian would be less a "shock" and more a "buffeting" force, Unlike a magnum and/or a 12 guage would.
I usually double-tap and often just chain-fire the whole drum/bannana
The scope is mainly for quicker target acquisition and definately has improved the "OH... MY... GOD!" factor in the looks department :)
I had the old style cover mount and it wouldn't hold zero.
This one with the set screws is the best I've seen because it also has the see through rail. My SAR has the side mount rail for the original Russkie optics system but I haven't found one for under $100.
I've been ordering from CTD for about 6 years now and have come to trust their product descriptions and have found their customer service department to be exemplary. I just got the scope and mount a few weeks ago but haven't had the chance to get to the range.
Of course the stuff was mounted on the rifle the minute the UPS guy left:)
Thanks again...

My SAR just has the sidemount ... and the red dot is a BEC ''Miradot'' .. ... it is CDT tho not bought from CDT! :p It came from Sportsmansguide when they had a deal goin .. ''made in China'' (shudder) of course. $30 or so. The dot is a generous 4 MOA at least but . does the job and .. biggest bonus .. seems to hold zero well enough.

The pic shows setup .. and the ugly Mak stock is on cos before when using irons I needed a better fit . It now stays on there still and apart from being fugly - I like the ergonomics now!
