I voted first, the bolt action is my favorite because it is smiple, strong and accurate. I like semi-auto too, but it has to come behind the bolt.

Lever action, just because I can work the action faster than a bolt! 15 shots of .22lr in a levergun seems like a lot, but really it's just a few seconds and a huge grin away.

i voted for lever. it edges out pump due to availability and the potential ability to do extremely unsafe, but visually appealing, movie reloads :)

I voted semi-auto, because it's versatile in usage. But I put semi-auto in a different class than any manual action....

Once you get away from semi-auto, I like pump (quick, no "letting go and re-grabbing") and bolt (reliable & strong).

I like semi-auto most of all, because I don't have to do anything but pull the trigger and reload.

Of the manual actions I like the lever best because it is the most ambi-friendly and I am left handed. The lever guns were also designed during the Age of the Horse, and therefore more "romantic" to me when compared to the common bolt gun the machine gun fodder carried later on.

Lever action.

I love the old-west cowboy style and the reliability of a manually-operated weapon. Plus I'm a big bore fanatic.

Bolt action. A great feeling when you work the action, and it just looks good!:)

bolt action.

accuracy, power, speed.

I went for the bolt. Being a hand loader, it is more adaptable, the construction of a pre 64 M70 gives me more confidence and if I muff the first shot, time to work the bolt gives me time to breath and settle down before the second!

I voted SA...why?

M1 Garand
M1A
SKS - Russian
Ruger 10/22
AR-15

As Julie Andrews would sing...."These are few of favorite guns..." :)

I do need a precision bolt gun though...that is my NEXT long gun.

I voted semi, but there's just something viscerally satisfying about working a bolt.

Bolt action. Its the most satisfying action to work. :)

Levergun, because I'm an American :p

I like the relatively ambidextrous nature, the tradition, and the speed. I'd say pump is a close second for me but I haven't shot any pump rifles, only shotguns.

Semi-Autos are fun but more of a "business" action to me. Bolt actions are neat too but seem more like "serious benchrest" and such to me. The lines of most bolt action sporters don't appeal to me, but I am getting a C&R in a month or two and I do plan on several military bolt guns.

Aw hell I like them all.

Semi.

I enjoy the simple pleasure of inserting and ejecting mags out of a magwell.. I find it very soothing. ;)

Favorite rifles are VZ24, AR15, and Ruger #1.

Shooting the Ruger #1 is the most fun.

I voted Semi-auto, I just like the quickness of the operation. My second choice would be the lever actions.

I voted semi, less manual work. ;) Bolt after that for it's strength, accuracy and simplicity.

I voted semi-auto because I like to put as much lead in the air as quickly as possible and the mags hold many more rounds. I do have to admit I like the feel of a lever gun also. I grew up on westerns and just had to have one.

Depends on what I'm shooting.

I like semi for 22lr, but bolt or singleshot for all else.

As a southpaw, it's always been pretty much of a toss-up between levers and pumps.

RH bolts are too bleeding awkward in most circumstances. LH versions are generally more expensive and pretty hard to come by in these parts. Especially if you want a "short" action. Not all of us can afford to go the custom/special order route.

Semi-autos are better, but there are "brass issues" with some of them.

Started out using levers and pumps as they were the most LH-friendly repeaters that I could get with my severely limited funds in my youth. They worked for me then, and they still do.

I voted semi for pure-dee fun.
When there's some precision needed, bolt guns all the way.

Lever action... because it's as fast as you can get without going semi-auto...

But bolt action is in a close second...

Bolt action - traditional for rifles in this country. Makes you aim carefully on every shot. Sometimes I think that the ban on semi-autos in this country is just a conspiracy to make us better marksmen !

I can't argue with that except to add:
FAL
SAR1
Marlin Model 60
M1 Carbine
Marlin Camp Carbine
Beretta Storm

All the fun rifles are semi-auto! :D

Lever actions would be the 2nd place runner up.

Bolt- for reliability and strength
Semiauto a close second for fun and for speed.

I vote the Bolt as first, most accurate and useful. Followed by the auto's, levers, and doubles, I like them all. But bolt first then the rest.

If modern, bolt guns. Why? Most accurate of them all.

If old, flintlocks.

bolt for reliabiliy,
semi for speed
pump for fun.

Good thing in the real world, I can (and have) one of each :D

Bolt - accurate, reliable and classic.
Lever - accurate , reliable, classic, and just too darn handy.

Hard to say, since what type of action I prefer depends on what I am using a rifle for.

Hunting, in heavy cover, a lever gun
Hunting in more open terrain, then its always going to to be a bolt gun
Homeland defense? Easy, Semi Auto, either one of my AR15 types, my AR180B, or most likely, my M1A.

Compromising on any of the above, will achieve less than optimum results

I dont believe the fallacy that bolts are more accurate.

Double rifle.
Two reasons.

1. Nobody else has marked it

2. Cool factor is so high rifle is hot to the touch......

But in all reality a Mauser style bolt is A #1 for me.

Lever, for so many reasons; it's slim and sexy, plenty accurate for the limited range of its cartridges, and fun as a sack of kittens.

And, because at yesterday's 3-gun match, my Marlin 1894c was the only non-semiautomatic rifle there (ARs and M1As being the overwhelming standards), and I still placed right in the middle of the pack of 30 overall, and third of the nine using rifles with iron sights. And you just know I had more fun than all those auto-shucken-shooters!
