In the article about the new US Army uniform design, it makes a quick mention about their new issued boot:

"Soldiers also will get a new, no-shine, tan combat boot, and the current black boots will be discontinued."

I wonder if this new issued boot will be the OAKLEY SI BOOT in DESERT TAN?

It seems to fit the description as it is a "no shine" boot made of suede and canvas materials.

:D :what: :D

Since the Desert Tan OAKLEY SI BOOT is already issued to "special forces", maybe they will just issue it to all the troops.

As a VERY HAPPY wearer of the DESERT TAN OAKLEY SI BOOTS myself, I think our troops will be HIGHLY SATISFIED if they were issued the Oakleys!

:neener: :p :neener:

I have a pair of "desert tan" army boots I bought from a surplus store about 2 yrs ago. They're of one piece sole and heel, with uppers of tan suede and canvas. They're light weight and comfortable and have fair weather resistance. They are the coolest boots I've ever had in hot weather. I'm surprised other mfg.s aren't offering them to the public.

The Oakley boot is not a combat capable item. Joe will tear them in half! The new boots will likely be built by Bellville, Danner, and/or Wellco.
