All I could find:
New York Arms was a trade name distributed by H&D Folsom of New York, so your gun was either imported from Belgium c. 1880-1914, or manufactured by Folsom's subsidiary, Crescent Firearms of Norwich, CT. c. 1893-1930. If there is an "ELG" in an oval on the receiver, it is Belgian and I doubt if you will ever determine the exact manufacturer. If that mark is found only on the barrels or not at all, then it is a Crescent gun, with imported barrels if they are marked. Now, do you want to know who bought the gun or who bought the manufacturer? There will certainly be no record of the original owner, but Crescent's assets were bought by J. Stevens Arms Division of Savage Firearms about 1930.
