In the SOG line the NW Ranger is an excellent field utility. Field utility knives are usually better off with a blade under 6" since you're purpose is to have light chopping as the maximum task while still being able to perform finer cutting tasks. Blades around 4-5" fit this role very well.

The Falkniven F1 is another good field utility in a slightly smaller package. Excellent materials and design. It's big brother, the S1, will handle tougher hacking/chopping jobs a little better.

The "Ka-Bar for 40 bucks" is a very good knife, but the Camillus/Becker BK-7 for around $55 is a excellent knife, and is well worth the "extra" $15.

The new one by Ontario Knives looks good also. It can be found under 150 and is called the RAT

I really like my Buck 119. I re-profiled the edge to 15* per side and holy cow does it slice nice. It really fills the bill for me.
