I've been very happilly using a Don Hume IWB for my Commander and have a Derry Gallagher Texican on order for it.. I got a Sig 229 and started using a cheapie Uncle Mikes IWB the 12 dollar nylon. I like it, I feel sort of guilty that such an inexpensive holster works so well. Anyone else use them for CCW?

I thnk they're fine for what they are (i.e. inexpensive holster for occasional carry), but if you're going to carry a particular gun alot, you should invest in a proper rig. I use them for inside the glove box or to otherwise protect the gun in a drawer, briefcase, etc. They're slo easy to modify with velcro or other strapping for discrete concelment under a desk or what ever.

Or I should say I used about 5 for quite awhile. They wear out kinda fast under daily use, but they are so cheap it's not a biggie., Besides, they were the only holster that would stretch out to fit my grendels triggerguard.

Good luck! I hope you're a patient man.
I dropped off a money order and order form at Derry's home on 16 August 2002 and I'm still waiting for my tuckable Texican. We are rapidly approaching the second anniversary of the order but I suspect the holster is no closer to arriving.
Good luck! Be patient.

I use one for IWB carry and it performs.......of coure it has no soul, lacks craftsmanship, and never went "moo" in its former life.......but it works. They are like a Timex.

I have a UM’s paddle holster which I use almost daily and a shoulder holster. Both work out fine. However a smartcarry is my primary CCW holster

I use one of there IWB for a quick carry. They are OK for that, but if you are active, it moves around a lot. I have a couple of Max-Con V's on order from Brommeland. Hopefully they will work out fine for long-term carry.

I have an UM in my truck console. When I go into a restrictive area (such as Post Office), I can take the gun out of my $$$$ holster and put it into the UM and then into the console. Keeps it a little cleaner this way.

I carry my Taurus in an Uncle Mike's nylon ankle rig fairly often. So far it's been secure and passably comfortable. I'm sure there are better more secure, more comfortable options out there, but not for $35.
Uncle Mike's hoslters are fine if you don't expect them to be something they're not. For a holster in their price range and occasional use, they're great.

I;ve used UM nylon holsters for the last 2 years. They work, but they are nothing fancy. And as soon as I can afford it, something newer and better will be taking it's place. But most of the quality holsters are a bit pricey.

I have always viewed my UM holsters as extremely fuctional, good value, and something I will replace if and when I find something I want to spend moeny on. Whenever I have purchased a new (potential) carry handgun, I purchase on of these UM holsters, because it is inexpensive but functional.

Since then I've ordered a Wild Bills 'No Such Agency'. It is like an ARG but has a kydex ring to hold the mouth open. A buddy who is a Customs undercover fellow uses one and he loves it, I wore his and found it extremly easy to wear in a car then walk around with it. The key is a good belt.

When I first got my CPL, I bought a UM IWB for my 9mm. It only cost $10, and I considered it a POS that would have to do until I got a real holster. It took a year to make up my mind and get the money together. I was carrying the same UM and it was still in reasonably good shape even though I carried it daily. I got a lot of use out of that $10 holster. It may not be pretty, but it is a good value.

I've got a little Uncle Mike's IWB that I use when I very rarely carry my Walther PP, CZ-70 or Makarov. The nice thing is it works with any of those guns and is fairly comfortable.
It prints pretty bad though and I'm not to confident that it would hold up to daily carry well.

I have been pretty happy with UM. I don't think I would use it for a every day carry, but I would use it to protect a gun or to get me by.

I have tried many styles of UNcle Mike's and I find a niche for usage of each type. The cheap soft IWB $9 job is darned comfy for quick in and out. They are too soft for proper retention. Still, they are something I always wear now even when I am NOT wearing a gun. I use them to store a folding knife or money sometimes, and I know I always have a place to quickly slip a gun inside the belt without worrying rivets or such to scratch the gun. Their Kydex stuff is ok. Quick slip-ons for the truck, but they do not fit close to the body, or are they as nicely fitted as a Sidearmor or Blade-Tech. I have a few for the truck, or travel, as well. Their shoulder holsters for vertical large guns are very comfortable. None of the foam filled nylon conceals well, but that is not the purpose. They are super for field carry. I love them. Their horizontal rigs leave much to be desired in terms of strap and harness quality, positioning of the loops and straps because they make the horizontal position push away from the body, and prints like the devil. The shining star of the Uncle Mike's line is their $20 flat super belt slide holsters. Cheap, thin, durable, and darned comforatble for OWB. I love them. In fact, their Number 1 slide pancake style holster fits my P7 and K9/K40 to a glove-prefection. I like it more than any leather or make for my P7s. Their other belt holsters are functional at the $12-15 range, and the Nytek was a short-lived concept. I do like their Avenger-style Nyteks, and I bought 2 before that was discontinued. Very nicely done for $18. I have to admit, I lost my affection for leather ever since Kydex arrived.

I've been using an Uncle Mike's soft IWB holster for about 2 years now. I've tried others but I keep going back to this one.

When I bought my carry gun, an EAA Windicator 2" in .38 Spl., from a friend of mine, he included his Uncle Mike's hip holster with it. Being the weather was still a little cool outside, I was wearing baggy sweatshirts or a jacket, and it seemed to work just fine. I still use this one when I go to the range as it's the easiest holster for draw and reholstering.
I bought one of the cheap $10 UM's IWB holsters next for the warmer weather. Even though I can wear this holster with just about anything, it's not very good for my active lifestyle. The gun seems to want to slide out of the holster, as well as the holster slipping out of the holster if I'm bending or twisting. I found myself constantly shifting the gun down and adjusting its position to keep it from "printing", slipping out of the waistband, or just plain jabbing into my hip bone and making me sore. I still wear it occasionally with a shirt, tie, and jacket; but usually slide my gun into it at night to protect it from dust and lint when it's underneath my bed.
After the frustration of the IWB holster, I went to Gander Mountain and explained to their CCW handgun expert that I was looking for a holster that allows good concealability, along with good rentention and easy access. He then showed me the Uncle Mike's Super Belt Slide holster. He adjusted it for my revolver, and even how to wear it on my belt for the best comfort and concealment with my body frame. I'm sure it was more that salesperson's knowledge than the holster itself, but I ended up buying that holster. I took a couple more adjustments of the thumb-break retention strap to get it perfect until the holster was "broken in," but this is by far the best one I've seen for only $20. I wear this holster almost daily, and have found even with a retention strap on this holster compared to the open-style of the IWB, I can still draw quite quickly - if not quicker than the IWB since I'm not lifting as high to clear the IWB holster.
If I should end up wearing out this holster, I will definitely just go out and replace it with one of the same.
