Buffalo Councilman Has Gun Permit Taken Away
(Lancaster-AP) -- A Buffalo-area town councilman has been stripped of his permit to operate a gun business out of his home after he was arrested following domestic disputes.
Lancaster Town Councilman Richard Zarbo was arrested on Sunday for allegedly threatening his estranged wife and endangering his children. He's accused of violating an order of protection by making a telephoned threat against his estranged wife a day earlier.
Police also charged the 48-year-old Zarbo with unlawful imprisonment.
Town officials say Zarbo's special-use business permit required him to live at the address specified. But last week, his wife obtained a restraining order preventing Zarbo from returning to the family's home.
Yesterday, Zarbo's colleagues on the town board voted unanimously to rescind the permit granted in 1996.
Zarbo conducted part of his business online, selling and trading powerful military-style weapons.
He remains in jail on $100,000 bail.
