I'll just be using it for plinking and maybe for hog hunting. I either want the 91/30 or the 38. Ill get both eventually. I like the 91/30 for plinking, but thte 38 carbine for hunting in the swamps for hogs. Also, what is the recoil of the 7.62x54R compared to the .308 and the .30-06? I have a .30-06 so i have something to compare it to. Thanks for the help!

I have an M38, and the recoil is fierce, and the fireball huge. Having said that, what a blast of a rifle! The 91/30s are getting a little rarer, but scads of M44s are everythwere. Aztec has the best prices so far, and some of the nicest Mosins.
The 7.62x54R is comparable to 30-06 power wise, and ammo is cheap, however, check local ordinances if mil surp ammo is OK for hunting.
Have fun!

I;ve about decided to order it from Inter Ordnance. They have the smae prices as everyone else and seem to have some of the nicer nagants according to their advertisements. They seem to give more details about their guns also. Has anyone ever ordered anything from em?

www.gunsnammo.com. Get one of the Finn M39's.

I would not recommend ordering from interordanance, due to false advertisment, and very very slow shipping, aztec is the best place to get a mosin right now, that is my opinion,

I'll second BamBam's suggestion. Get a Finn M-39. Most accurate one you can get!
