Okay I just picked up my new 686p in 4" ( Along with its companion, marlin
1894c) I was pleasantly surprised that it seemed to be lacking the Laser
Etching. Instead the barrel and frame had the old style role marks:D :D :D
It is a 686-6, and has the new lock. Yet all the pictures they have in their
catalog, and web site are of the laser etched models. I very happy about
it but, what do you think happened???

P.S. I tried to post a pict, but the site times out on me. I guess I just don't
understand these things as well as I thought.

Congrats! I haven't had any luck finding a 686 with the old style lettering.

You need to reduce the size of the pics. It's probably too big to upload.
