I have a ruger 77/22 with a scope on it that interferes with the throw of the bolt, so I am going to replace it. All I do with this thing is target shoot, but I want to take it out and go after small game.
I'm considering a little red-dot scope for it. Is this a totally silly idea, or is it okay?

To me a red dot on a bolt rifle would look funny. You can do it but I would look into taller rings or a smaller diameter scope.

I put one on my Remington 597. I love it. For quick target aquisition and great accuracy up to 30-40 yards, you can't beat it. I just got it on and tuned in a month or so ago, so no hunting reports yet. This is similar to the model I bought for mine...
