I have some family in San Jose, a couple are sport shooters but I dont think they have considered CCW. Is it hard to get a CCW in San Jose, Santa Clara County? Is the Sheriff/Police Chief pro-carry?
Thanks for any help, -Variable

Other than being flatly impossible for commoners, it's easy.

Hmm. I don't see Santa Clara county at Packing.org, but then, they only show the bigger counties.
I think you'll have to either send a letter, or just fill out a CCW application and head down to your local PD in person to speak with the chief about it.
http://www.packing.org/state/index.jsp/california The list of counties updated at Packing.org is at the bottom.

Santa Clara County is just about the worst of the worst, and in California that's saying a LOT.

CCW? What's CCW?
My dictionary says, "counter-clockwise?"

Doggone it, do I always have to put "[sarcasm mode]--[/sarcasm mode]" into my posts? (Hint: Palo Alto is in Santa Clara County.)

No, you wouldn't have to put that.
"CCW? What ever could CCW be?" Would have worked. Sarcasm doesn't work when you apply it sparingly. ;)

If Buttercups buzzed after the bee,
If boats were on land; fishes on sea,
If ponies rode men and if grass ate the cows,
And cats should be chased into holes by the mouse,
If the mommies sold their babies to the gypsies for half a crown,
If summer were spring and the other way 'round:
Then the whole world would be upside down

There is a way to get CCW in that area: move to Monterey County. ;)

Is it really easy to get a CCW permit in Monterey county? I always assumed that it was so close to the bay area that its politics had been poluted to the same extent.

I've heard that the latest sheriff down in Monterey isn't THAT bad...he's not as outright corrupt as the last guy, at least.
But, note that Monterey runs inwards to Salinas where there's a LOT of poverty, down to the Carmel coast. Huge race and class differences. I'd be absolutely shocked if some of that didn't trickle over into CCW .

The San Diego County Sheriff "isn't that bad", but there are no CCWs forthcoming for most people.
