B.I.L. got his 40P off of layaway today so after we picked it up we headed straight for the range.

First impressions are that it is a very well constructed gun especially since CZ basically constructed it from leftover parts. This is a great "Franken-Gun" Pretty much everyone here knows the construction details so I will skip that.

The double-action trigger was great and the single action will be fine with a few thousand dry fires. The OEM plastic guide rod was the same as used in the P-01. They left it approx 1/2 an inch short. Doug didn't even want to fire it with the original one so we stayed up last night so he could make him up his own special one. Full length, stainless, and highly polished.

Also let me apologize as I am very capable of better pictures that this. I was in a hurry. Anyways back to the post.

The gun shot fantastic. It is very accurate. The next pic shows Doug's very first round through it. 15 yards off hand. Winchester Value Pack.

Then here is a 5 shot off hand group same ammo and distance.

Many have posted about the issues with the bushing getting ripped up or damaged and showing wear. We figured out the cause of this. It comes from this spot on the barrel.

We went through approx 100 rounds and the bushing did get chewed up by that notch on the barrell. It can only get torn up so much, then it will end up grooved all the way around. This is why some have stated that after a point it does not wear any more. We will be incorperating a solution to this issue on the replacement bushing we are working on.

There were no FTF's or FTE's or FT-anythings for that matter.

Conclusions. It should be a keeper. This gun is capable of great groups, especially if one wants to bench it. CZ should have put a FLGR in it be it metal or plastic. They should have designed the bushing a little bit different. But hey, how much can we complain about a $299.00 Franken-Gun. I am glad that CZ brought this one out. Get one while you can.

Now if one of you will just buy my 40B so I can get mine out of layaway limbo.

Your target photos are the same :p Unless your CZ40P can shoot one whole groups at 15yards hehe

Nevermind, either you changed it or my computer is dumb and reloaded lol

Those are nice groups, any word how accurate it is in general? Not a bad deal for $300!

Funny how when Colt made the CCO or Kahr made the P-9 Covert both out of their parts bins they`re special or custom models but when CZ does the same thing it`s a "Franken-gun"... No personal slight intended 12V. I know you`re a big CZ fan. Just making an observation. :)
I`m very happy indeed with my 40P. It`s reliable and accurate and the rail with an M3 makes it a great HD gun! The HK style bushing doesn`t bother me,since it`s worn in I haven`t measured any additional wear at all. I`ll probably buy a 12V Man polished stainless guide rod anyway though, just because they`re so sweet! Right after I track down a couple of ProMag flush fit mags. Marcus
